🚀🚀 Why it is important (with quirky facts)

A few weeks ago I mentioned how TikTok is transforming the way people access relevant information online, taking over Google searches.

Now, the more you spend time on TikTok and access the content you love, the more your TikTok feed will look like a personalized hub with all kinds of content—entertainment, events, tips — tailored just for you, all in one place.

This blazing trend is disrupting how fans consume sports content - giving you a primetime opportunity to feed their insatiable appetite for bite-sized, behind-the-scenes action.

Short-form videos have emerged as a preferred choice for 73% of consumers seeking information about products and services, combining brevity with impact.

The significant surge in global viewership for the upcoming FIFA Women's World Cup, (half a billion new viewers), was mainly the result of accessible (non-paywalled) short-form media content. Clear fact that this is becoming a brand-new media channel. Mind-blowing.

This is about creating new relevant content that fits into our super busy lives.

It’s not only about TikTok. Instagram and YouTube are getting in on the action, offering their short videos, particularly among Gen Z fans who prefer these digital channels over traditional TV.

Short-form video content is so powerful that even broadcasting channels are eyeing this format - for example, ClashTV’s successful short videos will move from mobiles to sports bars TV screens.

Short videos offer a quick and convenient way for fans to consume sports content on the go, whether they're waiting in line for coffee or taking a break from work, fans can watch a 90-minute match in a 3-minute video.

They’re so addictive that TikTokers find videos longer than a minute “stressful.”

But that’s not only that.

Users are hungry for punchy short-form variety, that goes beyond the game highlights video clips:

  • All-Access Content, Captured by Creators - an exclusive view into the event for fans. It’s immersive for the users. Creators can take cameras places where TV broadcast crews just can’t go.

  • User-Generated Content (UGC): One of the most engaging short-form digital media, without using pro lighting, cameras, or sound. All you need is a smartphone and some creativity. Fans have an opportunity to participate and contribute.

  • Athlete-Created Selfies: imagine an athlete beating a club record and announcing to his cameraphone.

  • Personal Player Interviews: it capture a peek inside the lives of athletes.

That’s why leading sports organizations have started to hire live content creators (LCCs). Creators know what a good product is on social media for a specific platform.

They will deliver cut and uncut short-form video that engages fans differently and more passionately than a traditional staff photographer who’s capturing for print or a broadcast camera.

One to mention is Katie Feeney, who has gathered a following of millions with her videos on TikTok and YouTube Shorts, has signed a one-year deal as the official “social media correspondent” of the NFL’s Washington Commanders.
